Nice to meet you! I'm a professional writer, marketer and Instagram expert, and I helm this here ship.
My raison d'être? Helping businesses, entrepreneurs and other authors share their messages with the world, whether that's through a website, a blog or Insta.
I have a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and have worked as a professional writer for the last seven years. Although I have many interests, none are dearer to me than environmentalism and sustainability, fields about which I feel a huge sense of passion.
Today, I work with brands and publishers to share my literary love with the world. I've been featured in publications like Bustle and have provided photography to major brands, in addition to promoting both traditionally published and indie books to my following.
When not typing furiously, you'll find me obsessively curating my #bookstagram feed, reading, cooking or playing with my rugrats.
Mostly, though, I write, and help others learn to do it too. You can find out more by checking out my courses, linked above.

Meet Jackie Johansen, lovingly dubbed by Sarah as the keeper of her sanity. She’s been on the team since 2017 as Sarah’s VA, helping with all things social media, marketing, and brand strategy. One of her favorite things about working at New Leaf Writing (among regular digital coffee dates with Sarah, of course) is doing work that aligns with her values: helping the Earth in big ways.
Jackie also has her own business, Your Words Electric. She recognizes most coaches and healers DIY their brand messaging when they first get started, but this can only take them so far. She helps them polish their message so it draws in more of the right clients, allowing them to focus on the work they love.
When she's not working, you can most often find her in her Northern California home, snuggling her German Shepherd, Gary (who thinks he's a cat), veganizing her favorite comfort food (stroganoff, holla!), or scrolling through Pinterest--planning her next international adventure (Greek Islands, I'm coming for you).
P.S. have you been? Let's talk.
