I don’t know about you, but “business systems” seem to be the next religion on the third rock from the sun. Everywhere I look online, I feel like I see female entrepreneurs shouting with reckless abandon about the wonder of systems, nearly deranged with joy about their recent discoveries.
Systems! they say. YOU NEED SYSTEMS! SO HELP ANYONE WHO DOESN’T HAVE A SYSTEM FOR TWITTER AND BLOGGING AND SOCIAL ENGAGEMENTS AND FILING THEIR NAILS!
Okay, that last one is a bit judgmental, since I file my nails every Friday. But still! It’s a little overwhelming.
And to my mind, sometimes a bit backwards. I mean, if you’re starting a copywriting business (or any biz), then it’s great to take a methodical approach, but first you need to make sure the systems you already use are as economical as can be.
Let’s start with one that I use every single day: keyboard shortcuts for word processing and web browsing. I use these two applications (Word and Chrome, specifically) every single day, and honestly, nothing increases my workflow faster than ditching the menu along the top bar and using keys instead.
